English is an international language, dominating all fields of life including communications, sciences, economics, trade, business management, informatics engineering, etc. It is an academic requirement in all programs and colleges at Syrian universities due to its importance both academically and in the labor market, which is consistent with National Academic Reference Standards (NARS). The English language program contributes to enhancing the transferred skills of students in certain academic programs at the university and helping them communicate in English (in writing & orally) not only during their academic life but also in the labor market after graduation. Learners at the Syrian Virtual University are motivated to register in English language teaching levels due to the flexibility in time and place being afforded by this untraditional distance learning pattern.
