Internal regulations of BAIT  

The program aims to qualify IT professionals and provide them with a basic knowledge of business science that will enable them to play an intermediary role between organizations that develop IT solutions and the various economic sectors that need these solutions in their business.

The program has an academic nature combined with a technical nature that aims to enable the student to acquire basic scientific knowledge as well as practical technical skills necessary to apply his/her knowledge within a real institutional environment. The program also targets a segment of students who are often in the labor market, but seek to:

    Strengthening and developing their knowledge and skills:

  • Apply this knowledge and skills directly within its real working environment
  • Develop their social and professional status by obtaining an advanced university degree.

This segment is usually aware of the nature of the labor market and its requirements and is able to provide a correct and clear assessment of the quality of the educational material and the nature of education and the appropriateness of their practical experience on the one hand, and the situation of the labor market on the other.

 

Learning Outcomes

  1. Knowledge & Understanding

Students are expected to possess a range of knowledge and values, including:

  • Basic theoretical knowledge related to information technology
  • Mathematical principles related to mathematical analysis, numerical analysis, mathematical algebra, probability and statistics.
  • The basics of designing information systems and software and knowing how to implement and test them.
  • The basis for the protection of information systems, data and networks.
  • describing the software systems requirements and their definition using information tools.
  • Business, management, marketing, accounting, and financial and banking transactions’ techniques.

 

2. Intellectual Abilities

Students are expected to possess a set of knowledge, abilities and values, including:

  • Comparing technical solutions to an issue and choosing the most appropriate technical solution.
  • Developing an action plan to implement a project and test it by applying theoretical knowledge and appropriate information tools.

 

3.Practical Skills

Students are expected to possess a range of professional and practical skills, including:

  • Effectively monitor and analyze test data
  • Management, financing and marketing of information projects
  • Database design, implementation and testing
  • Dealing with computer networks and knowing how to implement and test them
  • Master the tools needed to operate and protect information systems and services
  • Write elaborate reports on the works and projects being carried out.

 

4.General transferable skills

Students are expected to possess a set of values, abilities and skills, including:

  • Working in a multidisciplinary team and communicating with non-specialists
  • Demonstrating effective personal skills in the work environment
  • Self-learning and embracing lifelong learning as a working method.
  • Working in a stressful work environment to achieve the required work on time
  • Personal commitment to professional standards and ethics.

 

Specialized orientations within the program

The program includes two main specializations:

  • information systems and data networks: to work as advanced technicians and executives in the field of information technology.
  • Specialization of Management Information Systems: to work as executives and managers of information projects.

 

Study pathways in the program

    Secondary school path: If the applicant holds one of the Syrian secondary certificates (scientific, vocational, industrial, commercial, telecommunications) or equivalent certificates that is determined by the Council of Scientific Affairs at the beginning of each semester.

    Institutes path (Upgrading): If the applicant holds one of the technical institutes certificates in informatics, computer technical institute (Syrian Virtual University), commercial institutes, business administration and statistics, or equivalent institutes determined by the Scientific Affairs Council at the beginning of each semester.

Courses are divided into blocks according to their dependence on the scientific field according to the tables below. For the courses taught in English, it will be a prerequisite of the student to have achieved English level 3  Eng3.

Courses

  • Admitted Students who hold degrees from the institutes mentioned above shall be exempted from a part of the courses specified in these regulations in accordance with the conditions set by the University Council, taking into account the following:
  1. The number of accredited units should be equal.
  2. The scientific content should be equal to no less than 75%.
  3. to have a rate of “good” at least in the course.
  4. The exemption from the accredited units for the students covered by the provisions of the institutes course (promotion) should not exceed 35% of the total number of accredited units that qualify the student to attain the degree.
  • Students admitted under the fourth section of the registration clause shall not be exempted from any accredited unit.

The indicative study plan for the course of high school graduates consisting of 170 credit units as a core course, in addition to 78 credits for each specialized orientation; a total of 248 credits for the entire course.
