The institute aims at qualifiying technicians in the field of software and IT system, who have basic skills in this specialized filed and are able to carry out technical and operational work.

A certified assistant qualification in the field of software and information systems, in its professional nature, is the first and necessary link in the technical qualification of a secondary certificate holder. This qualification helps him/her to enter the labor market with professional technical expertise that facilitates obtaining good job opportunities that he/she cannot obtain by only attaining a high school diploma.

The Goal of the Program:

The educational outcomes approved by the institute in accordance with the academic reference standards are as follows:

1.Knowledge and understanding acquisition:

Understanding theoretical foundations related to information systems in general and programming in particular;
Learning the basics of programming information systems and knowing how to implement and test them;
Learning the basics of managing and protecting information systems, data and networks.

2. Mental skills:

The ability to adapt to the use of various information tools;
The ability to deal with computer systems (software and networks by applying knowledge and tools needed for design and modeling);

3. Professional and practical skills:

Mastering database management and knowing how to implement and test it;
Mastering the management of software systems and operating systems and knowing how to implement and test them;
Mastering the efficient use of the various information tools necessary for analysis, design, implementation and testing;
Mastering software and programming techniques in various high-level languages;

4. General and transferable skills:

The ability to work on a multidisciplinary team and communicate with non-specialists;
The ability to demonstrate effective personal skills in the work environment;
Demonstrating a personal commitment to the profession's standards and ethics.

Registration

Admission to the Technical Computer Institute requires that the applicant must have obtained one of the high school degrees in the various scientific, commercial, information and industrial and technological fields determined by the University Council at the beginning of each term, at an average of 55% and above, The University Council is authorized to amend admission rates at the beginning of each term, in accordance with the accredited assimilation policy and the carrying capacity of the university, provided that the specialization is informatics, computing , computer networks, or any of the specializations approved by the University’s Scientific Affairs Council.
The applicant has to pay the registration fees prescribed in the financial regulations of the University and the fees determined annually by the Council of the University.
Students are accepted as follows:

Registration takes place before the beginning of each term, and students start studying after registering and paying all incurred fees according to the financial system of the Virtual University
At the beginning of each term, the University administration shall determine the criteria for accepting students who wish to enroll.
The student may choose before the beginning of the term the new courses they wish to study in this term from among the available courses (which have open classes for teaching), provided they have already registered on all the courses that precede the selected courses according to the precedence of courses and have also submitted their examinations.
In each term, students can register for a maximum of 38 credit hours (including English courses) if all selected courses have open classes and the selected courses respect the precedence of courses.
In each term, students may register for a minimum of 15 credit hours (including English courses) if all selected courses have open classes and the selected courses respect the precedence of courses
The student takes the English placement test and is exempted from the levels they have passed.

Studying duration

The maximum duration of the study at the Institute is 4 years.
A student succeeds from one year to another, if he or she can get a minimum of credit hours. (including English-language hours) as shown in the following table. The levels from which the student is exempted in English are calculated according to the placement test as part of this minimum, the approved hours equivalent to the exempted subjects are calculated as part of this minimum and certified hours previously obtained by the student are included in the promotion:

Success Requirements:

The student is considered passed in the course if he achieved the following conditions

Getting a final result of the course which is equal or greater than 60%
The exam's final result was equal or greater than 40% of the whole exam mark
The student’s assignment result was equal or greater than 40% of the whole assignment mark
Achieving the scientific outcomes of the course

2. If the student failed in a course, he/she must repeat it fully along with its assignments and examinations, and with its full reimbursement.

Graduation Requirements:

1- The student is considered a graduate and holds a technical diploma in computer science if he/she passed in all the courses that scheduled for the institute and within the approved time frame.

2- The graduation decision will be issued by the SVU Presidency and all the Institute’s hard copies and their results will be delivered to the examination department in the university for conservation.

8. The number of workload hours of practice required to understand the course and corresponding to the number of contact hours of practice - WLPC (see the appendix to the mechanism for calculating the units approved in the Appendices Document );

9. The total number of hours required to study the course - THC (see the appendix to the mechanism for calculating the units approved in the Appendices Document)

10. The number of course credit hours - CRDC calculated according to the mechanism for calculating the units approved in the Appendices Document;

11- Level of qualification (see the appendix to qualification levels in the Appendices Document).
