Scholarship

The Virtual University is committed to its academic and social mission, as it endeavors to provide the educational attainment for a broad spectrum of the Syrian youth while maintaining its economic and developmental role and its self-financing as a public institution capable of financing its work, especially in the current war.

      The Board of Trustees of the Syrian Virtual University in its meeting held on February 15, 2017 approved the system of (scholarships and reduction in tuition fees) of the Syrian Virtual University according to the following terms:

1 – Fees Reduction for students in the military and armed forces:

The Syrian Virtual University adopts a reduction of 50% of the tuition fees for military students, whether they are military personnel or those doing their compulsory military service or even those kept in reserve service in the army and the armed forces, for the duration of their service while maintaining all decisions of the university council regarding military students, their courses and the dates of their examinations to suit their situation.

2. Scholarships for outstanding students:

The Syrian Virtual University will allocate quarterly scholarships free of charge for courses for distinguished students distributed as follows:

• Three free scholarships for each university degree program for high school students with a high school diploma of 85% or higher, with a special differentiation of grants to applicants based on the average certificate level accepted by the program.

• One free scholarship in respect to tuition fees for each programme made to elevate to university degree for a student with a degree of excellence in his / her institution and with a graduation rate of 85% and above. A selection of applicants for grants will be made based on the admission requirements of the programme.

• One free scholarship for each Master’s course program available at the University, for a student who has an outstanding university degree.  A special selection of applicants will be made based on the highest mark of admission according to the standard adopted in each Master’s program.

3 - Grants of martyrs’ family members:

The Syrian Virtual University allocates quarterly scholarships free of charge for the subjects’ fees for the families of the martyrs (the definition of martyrs' families is the one included in the grants decisions for the public universities) and they shall be distributed as follows:

  •  Three free scholarships for each university degree program, with a special selection of grants to applicants on the basis of their high school certificate average that is accepted by the program.
  • One free scholarship for any of the graduate programs for each university programme that  elevate to university degree, with a special differentiation of grants to applicants based on the admission requirements of the program.
  • One free scholarship for each course of study in each of the Master's programs available at the University. A special selection of grants to applicants is made based on the highest mark of acceptance according to the standard adopted in each Master program.

4. Grants for war wounded:

The Syrian Virtual University will allocate quarterly scholarships for subjects’ fees for the war-wounded, whose disability rate exceeds 35%, distributed as follows:

  •  Three free scholarships for each university degree program. A special differentiation of grants to applicants is made based on the average gained in the high school certificates that is accepted by the program.
  • One free scholarship for the subjects' fees for each of the programs that elevate to university degree, with a special differentiation of grants to applicants based on the admission requirements of the program.
  • One free scholarship for each of the Master's programs at the University. A special differentiation of grants to applicants is made based on the highest acceptance score according to the standard adopted in each Master program.

The University Council has the right to allocate three free scholarships for the tuition fees to study in each program of the University, in accordance with conditions determined by the Council in each term. These are allocated to public organizations, civil society organizations or public institutions cooperating with the Virtual University. The University has the right to a 20% fees discount for three seats in each program for the same entities mentioned above.

The University emphasizes its pursuit to provide opportunities for scientific rehabilitation for the widest number of Syrian youth following its belief in its academic and social mission.

The program of the grant system will be implemented (for financial and procedural considerations related to its implementation mechanisms) starting from the fall semester of 2017 (which will be announced in November 2017). The fees reduction for military personnel will be in effect starting in spring semester 2017, which will begin in 2017 for students of law, education and media, and in September 2017 for the other programs.  Additional grants will be approved for each new program created at the University in accordance with the same previously mentioned standards and the Council of the University will issue in the coming few months the executive procedures and mechanisms to be followed to apply for these grants.
